Staff Attorney The candidate will work in the Civil division. Will provide civil legal services to indigent clients throughout the 68-county service area in Southwest Texas. Will specialize through one or more of the 40+ practice area teams addressing such disparate issues as immigration, domestic violence, farm labor, international child abduction, sexual assault, LGBT issues, civil rights, and employment discrimination. Depending on the practice area or the community, might litigate complex cases in federal courts, engage in transactional work for colonia residents, or develop a litigation-oriented practice in the state courts in the region. Must be licensed to practice law in Texas, able to waive into the Texas Bar, or willing to take the next available Bar exam, in that order of preference. Should be functionally fluent in Spanish at a professional level.
