ProfileSenior Group Counsel The candidate will provide practical, business-savvy litigation support with respect to a wide range of commercial disputes and litigation matters affecting Johnson Controls’ various business units. Will work with the legal Business Partners and the legal Commercial Transactions Team to investigate, evaluate and effectively counter threatened or pending litigation and disputes. Close coordination and collaboration with firm outside counsel, technical experts, insurers and related third parties. Create and deploy litigation and dispute resolution management processes and related tools, including early case assessment and budgeting discipline, to drive consistent management and reporting of litigation across North America. Develop strategy and budgets for efficient and effective matter handling and resolution. Drive adoption of best practices and processes for litigation management and dispute resolution. Assist with selection and management of outside legal service providers, including spend discipline. Coordinate with other key stakeholders, such as Compliance and Risk Management and Business Partners. Prepare litigation reports. Propose, develop and monitor preventive law and compliance programs to reduce firm’ exposure to legal risk. Must have JD degree and a member of a U.S. State Bar. Should have 10+ years of related litigation experience in a major law firm, a publicly held-multi-national corporation, or both. Experience with construction litigation is required. Experience in class actions, environmental and construction litigation, as well as dispute resolution is must. Product liability litigation experience and litigation experience outside the U.S. is a plus. Experience managing outside counsel is essential.
