Attorney The candidate will be responsible for conducting impact litigation, identifying and developing potential new cases and litigation opportunities, and engaging in community advocacy to protect and expand the rights, access to economic security, and legal justice for Michigan farmworkers. Advocacy tasks will include field investigation and camp outreach, legal research and writing, negotiation, community task force participation, training legal interns and law clerks, document preparation, policy analysis, representation in administrative hearings, as well as state and federal litigation and appeals.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must be licensed to practice law in Michigan, qualified to be admitted by waiver, or able to take the next available Bar exam. Must have excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a demonstrated commitment to protecting the rights of workers, immigrants or other persons in poverty. Experience, especially related to impact litigation on behalf of low wage workers will receive priority. Able to communicate effectively in Spanish will receive priority, as most of clients speak Spanish as their primary language.
