Practicing Attorney Level 4 Duties: Provides high quality appellate representation to indigent clients convicted of felonies. Pursues direct appeals to the Supreme Court and ancillary proceedings. Ensures effective representation pursuant to constitutional and statutory mandates. Review court records, pleadings, and transcripts of proceedings in lower courts. Research, write, and file briefs, memoranda, motions, and other pleadings. Consult and counsel clients. Represent indigent clients at trial level as needed. Appear in court, particularly in oral argument to the Wyoming Supreme Court. Advise trial counsel as needed. Prepare continuing legal education programs as needed. Serve on State Boards and Committees as needed. Travel as needed throughout the state, to correctional facilities.
Qualification and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: JD Degree. 7+ years of relevant legal experience. License to practice law in Wyoming. Preference will be given to those with previous appellate experience and/or demonstrated strong legal writing skills. KNOWLEDGE of: Wyoming Criminal Law, State and federal constitutional law, Strong computer skills, Familiarity with Westlaw.
