Litigation Attorney Using methods provided by the firm, the candidate will ensure that the client’s legal file contains all of the information necessary for an attorney to fully protect their rights and to secure the maximum amount of compensation for them. Duties are performed through contact with the client, attorneys, insurance carriers and various municipal and judicial entities, as well as by written communication, investigation and preparation of legal documents. Provide outstanding client service. Prepare and file legal documents, including summons, complaints, affidavits and discovery, and exhibits. Organize documents, pleadings folders and coordinate document production. Conduct various document searches and factual research. Prepare witness and matter materials for case preparation, including mediation and trial. Coordinate, schedule, calendar, and attend discovery appearances, including depositions. Coordinate, schedule, calendar, and attend appearances such as pre-trial, mediation and trial. Schedule and ensure service upon all parties. Assist with preparation of discovery responses. Prepare and file settlement and dismissal documents. Maintain history of clients’ injuries by gathering and summarizing medical records. Maintain contact with insurance carrier and counsel. Maintain accurate record of case expenses, payments made and outstanding costs. Clerical duties such as preparing correspondence, filing, processing incoming and outgoing mail. Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an ABA approved school and 1-2 years of litigation experience required. Active license and be in good standing with the Maryland, DC or Virginia Bar as well as any other state Bar where a license has been held required. Demonstrated: ability to manage relationships with both internal and external customers; knowledge of state legal system and law; strong professional ethics, reliability and accountability; proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) required. Workers’ compensation and/or personal injury experience preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
