Senior Counsel, Employment The candidate will support outside counsel litigating class action and individual-plaintiff lawsuits and arbitrations, as well as our HR and Product groups, and will provide general legal support for company’s other Corporate functions (e.g., Facilities, Finance, etc.). This position will report to a Legal Director, Employment and be based at company’s HQ in San Francisco. Work as part of the internal team to manage outside counsel in class action and single-claimant litigation to administrative hearings (federal and state wage and hour complaints, Unemployment hearings, and Workers’ Compensation litigation). Provide legal advice to various business groups on all types of employment law matters, including hiring, discipline, and termination, wage and hour rules, disability accommodation, discrimination and harassment issues, OFCCP obligations, trade secret protection, and investigations. Advise the business on a wide variety of current and proposed products, e.g., companyEats. Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of company policies and compliance efforts. Provide training to HR and managers throughout U.S. on employment issues and business ethics. J.D. and California Bar membership required. Must be practicing attorney with 8-12 years of experience in California and federal employment law in a law firm and/or in-house legal department. In-house counsel experience, especially in tech, transportation or delivery, strongly preferred. Should have experience with employee misclassification issues. Must have substantive knowledge and experience in class, collective, representative, and individual-claimant litigation.
