Business Development Manager – Litigation Duties: Under the general direction of the CSO and existing managers in litigation, the Business Development Manager – Litigation will assist in developing and implementing strategic business development (BD)and marketing initiatives and activities. Execute litigation strategic priorities, including those specific to practice groups, geographies, client teams, industry groups and individual partners. Develop measurable tactics, and regularly track and report on progress. Work with lawyers to advance and achieve individual, Litigation Department and firm BD and marketing objectives. Work with partners and members of the BD department to evaluate and coordinate events, sponsorships, speaking engagements, thought leadership, online and new media platforms, etc., connecting them with clients and potential clients. Obtain client, prospect and market research, working with the Business Intelligence Group, as needed. Analyze research, and identify key takeaways and opportunities. Actively monitor marketplace developments effecting existing and prospective clients, to quickly identify and react to lead generation opportunities. Collaborate with pitch and proposal team to prepare proposals/RFPs. Serve as a subject matter expert and advise on the opportunity. Oversee the development and distribution of all BD and marketing collateral, including client memos, books, articles and other thought leadership pieces. Work with the communications team to create and submit award submissions. Oversee marketing and BD database updates, including practice and matter descriptions, website, biographies, mailing lists and CRM.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Master’s degree in Business or Marketing or JD Degree is a plus. 4+ years of experience in a successful business development or marketing role in a professional services environment. Law-firm specific background, particularly on the Litigation side, is a plus. Ability to create a team environment where ideas can be shared, questions can be asked and individuals are accountable for their own actions. Exhibits leadership qualities and is able to inspire confidence, respect and trust across the department. Excellent communication skills required (writing, editing, coaching and presentation skills). Understanding of the pressures of working in a corporate environment and demonstrate potential for working well with attorneys who have a wide range of business development goals and marketing skills. Ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities to meet time-sensitive deadlines, as well as manage multiple projects simultaneously, including confidential matters. Focused on execution and achieving measurable results Well organized with a meticulous attention to detail. Excellent inter-personal skills. Demonstrated ability to work confidently and collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
