Workers Compensation Legal Assistant Duties: Types general correspondence, memoranda and complex legal documents according to the requirements set by each practice group. Transcribes dictation tapes. Proofreads documents and checks for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammar. Prepares check requests for processing with appropriate backup and timely submission to accounting for payment. Types and coordinates expense reports. Enters and edits attorney’s time into the timekeeping system within deadlines as required. Maintains attorneys’ appointment calendar. Coordinates all client related travel. Maintains files in an efficient and effective manner. Prepares and updates attorney case lists. Receive, open, prioritize and distribute incoming mail. Prepare materials for distribution via U.S. mail, fax, courier, messenger, etc. Maintains confidentiality of client information in accordance with the firm policies. Interacts professionally with clients, attorneys, paralegals, secretaries, all other staff and other representatives outside of the firm. Handle pressure, interruptions and multiple projects with frequently changing priorities and deadlines.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: 3+ years’ experience as a legal assistant. Legal experience preferred. Exceptional organization skills. Positive attitude. Excellent typing skills. Ability to multitask. Team work oriented. Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
