Paralegal Duties: Field intake calls from potential clients, conduct interviews with witnesses or clients, and draft affidavits for the firm’s active cases. Assist in online and documentary research and prepare graphs, charts and other explanatory materials for cases in various stages of investigation or litigation. Managing case files; editing and formatting documents and court filings; organizing materials for attorneys; helping attorneys with document review and deposition preparation; offering general office support, as needed; and organizing media and public advocacy projects like press conferences, meetings and community. Front-line participants in the firm’s creative class action litigation practice and work closely with attorneys, clients, witnesses and the firm’s many allies in the civil rights and social justice communities.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, 2-3 years’ experience working at a law firm, and superior organization skills. Should be highly motivated and self-starting; learn quickly; work well independently and on a team; and be comfortable managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Must be proficient with computer systems, word processing, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet research, and other related information technologies. Moderate knowledge of legal proceedings, LexisNexis, Microsoft Access, or iConect (or other legal document management systems) is a plus. Individuals with HTML knowledge or other website maintenance skills will be given special consideration. Ability to work well as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills and confident manner with the ability to relate to people at all levels. Ability to work effectively under pressure.
