ProfileLegal Assistant The candidate will transcribe dictation tapes (letters, memos of law, motions and briefs). Will manage proofread documents and checks for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammar. Prepare check requests for processing with appropriate backup and timely submission to accounting for payment. Type and coordinates expense reports. Enter and edit attorney’s time into the timekeeping system within deadlines as required. Maintain attorney appointment calendar. Coordinate all client related travel. Maintain files in an efficient and effective manner. Prepare and update attorney case lists. Receive, open, prioritize and distribute incoming mail. Prepare materials for distribution via U.S. mail, fax, courier, messenger, etc. Maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with the firm policies. Interact professionally with clients, attorneys, paralegals, secretaries, all other staff and other representatives outside of the firm. Should be motivated with the goal of becoming a long term asset within the organization. Proficient in Microsoft Office program is needed. Ability to type approximately 65 – 75 words per minute is needed. Familiarity with electronic filing in Federal and State Court is essential.
