Paralegal DUTIES: Perform a variety of duties to assist busy health care lawyers with litigation and other matters. Handle regulatory and business issues in complex litigation and transactions. Understand the litigation process, especially large case management from discovery through trial; Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, co-counsel, multiple experts, case managers, and witnesses during all phases of discovery and trial or arbitration; Organize and keep track of voluminous documents; Assist with document reviews for identifying and categorizing issues and for responsiveness; Create effective word searches for locating information in voluminous documents; Identify privileged documents and terms for redaction; Prepare and maintain document and transcript databases in various formats.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor s degree with strong academic credentials; 4-8 years of defense litigation experience in a mid- to large-size law firm; Strong, concise communication and written skills; Able to work overtime, including weekends; travel will be necessary. Be interested in health care law and passionate about supporting hospitals, physicians and other providers, medical device companies and others who are in the business of delivering quality healthcare to improve the lives of those in their communities; Have experience in e-discovery and data management of high volume document collection and review, including exchanging documents via clean rooms, secure FTP sites, and other secure work spaces; Be able to liaise with experts for communication/transmission of statistical analysis and manipulation; Be able to learn to spot legal and factual issues of concern; Have in-courtroom trial/arbitration experience; Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, including Access, Visio, and PowerPoint; Be a power user of Microsoft Excel; Have experience with Adobe Acrobat; Have experience in effectively using litigation applications/databases such as Relativity, Trial Director, Concordance; Be skilled in cite checking, Shepardizing, and Bluebooking. Able to work independently in an environment that is heavily computer based, follow established client and team guidelines for case and matter management, maintain excellent relationships with clients, and diligently preserve the confidentiality and security of information.
