Patent Paralegal Responsibilities: Assist the company patent attorneys on counseling of client groups to select the appropriate inventions to patent, determine appropriate filing timelines and manage filing strategies to achieve patent protection within budget expectations, including managing filing date deadlines, signature requirements, foreign filing licenses, and export controls. Partner with the patent attorneys to manage US and International Patent prosecution dockets. Develop and maintain key contacts to stay current on the organization’s structure and designated development areas. Develop an understanding of Patent Group procedures, including an understanding of engineering teams supported by various Patent Development Teams and related procedures managed by the Patent Operations team.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: BA/BS, Paralegal Certificate, or relevant work experience is required. 2+ years of experience with patents (e.g., patent prosecution), such as in a law firm or corporation, is preferred. Substantial experience working with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and SharePoint and Excel. Detail and results oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills. Ability to work independently while also being a strong collaborator. Ability to multi-task and work well independently as well as with a team. Prior experience and general knowledge in the computer software technology field. Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision, while interfacing with a variety of personalities across a large number of diverse internal groups, teams, divisions, and cultures. Analytical problem solving, ability to deal with ambiguity and move forward based on solid assumptions and risk mitigation. Strong organizational and project management skills, with a desire and ability to work with diverse teams. Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal).
