Benefits Paralegal Duties: Under the supervision and direction of attorneys, performs a variety of paraprofessional duties. Gathers information from a range of sources. Maintains detailed and accurate daily billable hour records. Manages individual case files, prepares various legal documents, and regularly interacts with clients and attorneys. Prepare excel spreadsheets to reflect financial outcomes for Feasibility reports and transactions. Draft and amend individually designed and pre-approved benefit plans (including 401(k) plans, ESOPS, defined benefit plans, cafeteria, and welfare plans), and summary plan descriptions, forms, QDROs and other ancillary plan documents for qualified plans. Prepare and manage submissions to the IRS and DOL filings. Prepare spreadsheets for various aspects of retirement plan set up, projections, and feasibility. Prepare and review due diligence plan documents in connection with mergers, acquisitions, stock sales and asset sales of subsidiaries or divisions. Prepare board resolutions and unanimous written consents. Assemble transaction documents for various purchases and plan set-ups. Prepare annual Form 5500 filings for defined contribution and welfare benefit plan sponsors and assist plan sponsors in the correction of missed or incomplete filings. Maintain detailed and accurate daily billable hour records. [Full time Billable Paralegals are generally expected to bill 1550 hours per year to client matters]. Prepare closing binders following commercial transactions. Organize reports, correspondence and memoranda of law and other documents. Interact with clients in person, over the telephone and via email.

Qualification and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS: B.A. in Paralegal Studies or Paralegal Certificate is beneficial but not mandatory. 4+ years’ experience or equivalent work and educational experience. Employee benefits experience preferred. Ability to perform legal research using reference materials generally available within a law library and/or electronic resource tools. A strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software, particularly in Excel, and specialty-related software such as FIS Relius, Tvalue5, and a typing level of 50 WPM. Capability to deal effectively with clients, attorneys and co-workers. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and organize and prioritize workload. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Self-motivated, able to perform job duties independently and discreet. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to exercise a high degree of confidentiality and discretion are required.
