Paralegal/Legal Assistant I Duties: Provide a variety of direct paralegal services to staff. RMBS Section. Seek and locate sources of information, in aid of investigations and trials by contact or correspondence with other departments and/or agencies of federal, state and local government. Gather factual material independently; read, annotate, and summarize transcripts, files and other factual aspects of the case; obtain financial and statistical information, agency records, court records and other public records; analyze documents and draft factual memoranda. Perform specialized detailed legal research as necessary. Organizing and processing huge quantities of data and discovery documents. Responsible for preparing numerous exhibits for trial. Provide automated litigation assistance to attorneys in trial preparation and courtroom presentations. Utilize various software applications and graphics hardware such as scanners and plotters. Prepare documents, charts and visual materials for use in trials. Provide technical support, e.g., enlarging charts and photographs, duplicating tapes and videos, and marking exhibits. Provide critical assistance in trial preparations.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree preferred. Paralegal Certificate. 1+ years of litigation experience. 1+ year of litigation paralegal experience required; trial experience very helpful. Relevant experience with both pre-trial and trial litigation support is expected. Experience working with such electronic databases as Concordance and Sanctions for the organization and presentation of evidence. Automated litigation support experience very helpful. Must have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation system sufficient to perform basic legal research. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and WestLaw. Should have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, imaging, and telecommunications. Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.
