This large boutique firm has offices in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Their practice is broad-ranging, from all aspects of patent, trademark, and copyright law, to advice on entertainment law, security interests in intellectual property, and related aspects of commercial law and other legal areas dealing with technology. We’ve been told that they have a test that everyone must take before interviewing, and it’s quite difficult. The firm’s clients range from individual inventors and start-up companies to some of the world's largest multinational corporations. While there are some negative comments about the hours required, the hours seem commensurate with the salary, firm quality and work required. Patent Paralegal Responsibilities: Communicate with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), WIPO, foreign counsel and clients. Review and prepare patent applications for filing with the USPTO and instructions to foreign agents for foreign filings. Research rules and procedures. Prepare preliminary drafts to Office Actions including claim amendments, responses and other documents. Process and file U.S. and foreign patent applications and other documents through E-filings. Maintain attorney docket and manage filing deadlines.

Qualifications: 4 year college degree or Paralegal Certificate. 2-4 Years of Patent Paralegal experience. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Strong organizational and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be detail oriented and be able to work independently. Knowledge of US patent and PCT procedures.
