Litigation - General (consumer)

Litigation Paralegal Responsibilities: Handle multiple, concurrent projects and tasks; will have direct communications with clients and National Counsel; will respond to client questions and requests for information; will seek information from client and National Counsel; monitor case calendars and keep track of deadlines. Assist in oversight of case work up through to trial, including monitoring calendar and local deadlines. Prepare daily and weekly reports for National Counsel. Review, organize and summarize case materials. Support Senior Counsel in case medical work up for trial. Obtain medical, employment and other records. Review and summarize discovery documents and medical records. Prepare discovery. Prepare page line summaries of deposition transcripts. Locate and contact witnesses. Assist in all aspects of trial preparation including trial documents, exhibits and trial notebooks. Assist attorneys with case management including monitoring status of case work up. Assist in preparation of information for expert witnesses. Travel to courts, libraries and other destinations to obtain and review documents, records, etc.. Perform document management using firm software. Perform legal research using Westlaw, the Internet, and various government agencies sites. Cite checking, Shepardizing, and proof reading legal documents to ensure compliance with local and federal court rules.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: ABA Approved Paralegal Certificate; Bachelor’s degree preferred. 2-4 years of paralegal support experience with 1+ year recent litigation experience. Microsoft Office Suite proficiency . Superior written and verbal communication skills. Maintain strong organization skills, detail oriented, self-motivated, team player and leader. Employees must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: (a) can get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; (b) respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor. Knowledge of CCP, FRCP, Local Rules, docketing and court procedures, e-filing via Lexis and Pacer. Experience with the following programs: Microsoft Word 2010, Outlook, Prolaw, NetDocs, and Westlaw.
