Commercial Litigation Paralegal Duties: Support attorneys. Support client intake; calendar deadlines according to the rules; schedule meetings and case events with court, witnesses, client, court reporting service, and opposing counsel; prepare correspondence and reports to insurance adjusters and calendar all insurance-required deadlines; prepare petitions and answers; ensure citations are accurate; ensure receipt of all e-filing and faxes of case documents and upload to the server same day; ensure proper service of process; prepare attorneys with documents for depositions, mediation, and hearings (including highlighting all case law involved in documents); communicate with opposing counsel regarding discovery; prepare public information requests; request medical information from health care providers for medical records and ensure medical authorization forms are obtained; summarize documents produced by clients, third parties, opposing parties; prepare discovery requests; select and create deposition exhibits; select and prepare non-privileged responsive documents and prepare answers to discovery requests; redact documents; coordinate with court reporters for subpoenas and depositions; support trial preparation; make travel arrangements for attorneys and witnesses; and ensure mail goes out.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree is highly desired. 3-5 years of experience and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of complex commercial litigation, professional liability and arbitration practice. Demonstrated competency with procedural rules in federal and state courts will be required. A hybrid of litigation paralegal and administrative support skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills are critical. Excellent client service and organizational skills to proactively manage workload with minimal supervision are essential.
