Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal Responsibilities: Provide general office support for litigation attorneys, for example, maintain and organize files, photocopy, maintain calendars, schedule travel, coordinate meetings, calls and conferences. Draft supporting documents for set up of new clients and matters in the billing and electronic document storage systems. Prepare correspondence, documents and presentations; take responsibility for formatting, consistency and accuracy on time-sensitive, high-profile documents. Calculate and calendar court deadlines; proficiency with docketing management software programs. Format, proofread, and finalize detailed correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents; prepare and finalize additional various correspondence and other documents as necessary. Establish and maintain paper and electronic filing systems; classify, sort and file correspondence, records, and other documents. File pleadings in state and federal trial courts in multiple jurisdictions, as necessary; keep current with changes in court rules and filing procedures. Perform general research and support activities to assist attorneys. Provide support to litigation attorneys with regard to scheduling CLE seminars and tracking CLE requirements/compliance in multiple jurisdictions.
Requirements: Bachelor s Degree. Paralegal Certificate preferred. 3+ years of experience as a litigation legal assistant. High level of proficiency with Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and electronic document storage software programs. High level of proficiency with timekeeping and billing software programs. Ability to transcribe dictation. Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills. Excellent attention to detail. Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure. Must possess a willingness to learn and exhibit flexibility. Must have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently. A sense of humor is definitely a plus and will come in handy with everyone at this firm.
