Government Contracting Paralegal The candidate will review and analyze government procurement documents. Apply knowledge of the phases of governmental contracting: (1) bidding, evaluation and negotiation; (2) award and contract execution; (3) contract administration including modifications and amendments; and (4) contract termination. Understand disputes that arise in doing business with the government. Specific areas of practice support will include: government audits, suspension, and disbarment proceedings; bid protests; contract claims and requests for equitable adjustments; and disputes arising from subcontracts and teaming agreements. Collect information and evidence; manage client relationships; review contract performance of contracts and identify contractual obligations; monitor the status of audits; identify potential contract risks; investigate disputes and complaints in accordance with contract requirements; and, assist in the preparation of bid protests, claims and court filings. Handle case management and client communications. Conduct database administration and online research. Conduct online legal research using databases such as FEDBizOps, the federal FAR and DFARs and Lexis. Assist with law firm administration requirements; preparing newsletters, fact sheets and blogs; and, assisting with the preparation and filing of offers to government solicitations. A degree or a Paralegal certificate required. Knowledge of contract litigation in the following venues – agencies, federal and state district courts, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the Boards of Contract Appeals, and the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) required. Experience working with government contracting and government agencies required. Legal research skills; IT skills; and, Strong communication skills required.
