Subrogation Paralegal Duties: Under the direction of the organization’s attorneys, sends demand letters, drafts legal documents, manages project execution, and manages data in the case management system. Drafts standard pleadings, discovery, letters, and other litigation documentation, distributes for review, and obtains necessary approvals and signatures. Calendar trials, review mail, schedule depositions, e-file documents if needed. Contact witnesses for trial. Call court to confirm events. Reviews files to confirm the amount of subrogation sought as well as target/s of subrogation demands in order to prepare demand letters and pleadings. Work with claims partners on any information needed. Gathering facts, using websites to obtain information. Assist with the identification of relevant issues; continually monitor issues and update attorney, as appropriate. Gather matter related documents for the attorney to analyse. Enter matter data and upload new documents. Assist with management of litigation, as needed. Using court client and vendor templates and forms with accuracy. Using sharepoint, word, adobe, outlook, excel spreadsheets with skill. Learning via webinar, virtual team.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in related field; American Bar Association (ABA) approved Paralegal Certificate. Insurance-industry experience preferred. Knowledge of process of drafting and filing justice/county/district court cases and service issues as well as basic discovery and court document preparation. Analytical skills and strong attention to detail. Ability to identify, prioritize and solve problems effectively regarding basic matters. Ability to work in diverse, multi-office, and long distance environments. Basic skills and experience interacting with vendors such as process servers and court personnel. Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Basic proofreading, and formatting skills. Ability to collaborate and interact with all levels of personnel and build strong relationships with business colleagues. High degree of ethics and integrity. Strong interpersonal skills, advanced written and oral communication and effective customer service skills. Ability to identify inconsistencies in routine work and initiate corrective action within own workflow. Able to deliver results with a sense of urgency. Adapts well to change; able to multi-task and make effective decisions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Is a proactive self-starter who is able to manage time effectively and works independently. Regular, predictable attendance is an essential.
