Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for providing contract process management and functional support to the Legal Department to ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and to promote a legally compliant environment at the hospital. Perform legal research, review and draft legal documents with attorney oversight, maintain confidential information and communicate with professional staff. Provide first review and editing of contracts prior to review by Attorneys and Insurance Manager (new, renewal, additional review). Distribute contract reviews among Attorneys. Respond to requests or questions related to contract content, when appropriate. Manage and maintain Clause Library and Template Library. Review and drafting of contracts including: physician contracts; construction contracts; license agreements; contracts for sale and lease of property; consultant contracts; service contracts; confidentiality contracts; and other contracts as requested. Research and review statutory, regulatory and case law utilizing computerized research capabilities and law libraries on a range of issues including: contractual agreements; employment issues; health law and regulatory issues; corporate matters; medical staff issues; consent issues; policies and procedures; reimbursement issues; child advocacy and child abuse issues; and other issues as requested. Assist with review and analysis of medical staff issues including: peer review; credentialing; bylaws and companion documents; and other issues as requested. Assist with review and drafting of policies and procedures, and legal correspondence. Support and participate in the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of services provided. Provide additional administrative services in the legal department as they arise. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Paralegal Certification or equivalent required. 2 – 4 years of experience in law office or internal legal department required. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, organization and computer skills as well as the ability and initiative to perform duties with consistently high levels of competency, accuracy and sound judgment required. Demonstrated skill at typing 50 error-free words per minute required.
