Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary Duties: Provides administrative and clerical support to specific Firm staff member(s) as well as works independently to ensure the successful management of tasks within their department. Provide administrative and clerical support to include typing, filing, copying, drafting correspondence, answering phones, reading and answering e-mail. Make travel arrangements, maintain records of same and provide materials needed by supervisor prior to travel. Assist with expense report filing. Design filing system and maintain department records. Maintain supervisor s calendar and appointments. Arrange meetings or special events and maintain record of same. Work independently to perform any other function specific to department/supervisor needs.

Qualifications: High School Diploma, or Equivalent. Previous asbestos experience is highly recommended. Good organization and communication skills. Knowledge of office policies and procedures. Knowledge of basic office equipment. Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer software specific to individual position/department. Advanced knowledge of proper composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation. Ability to work independently. Ability to make decisions based on policies of the Firm and anticipated preference of supervisor. Knowledge: Customer & Personal- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessments, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluation of customer services. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as Microsoft Office, managing files and records, designing of certain forms, and other office procedures and terminology. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Knowledge of circuit boards for transferring calls, electronic equipment, and computer hardware & software. Talking to others to convey information effectively. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the pointes being made, asking appropriate questions, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Actively looking for ways to help people. Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. Adjusting actions in relation to others actions. Being aware of others reactions and understanding why they react the way they do. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solution, and conclusions or approaches to problems. Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the firm. Managing one s time and the time of others.
