Corporate Counsel, Patent/Engineering/IP Legal Professional Duties: Assist the larger litigation team across patent litigation docket. Will include the following: review and preliminary analysis for patents filed in lawsuits and pre-litigation notice letters; initial prior art searches for patent litigation matters; create and maintain invalidity and non-infringement charts, at times in collaboration with outside counsel or outside search firms; work closely with outside counsel firms, as appropriate, to identify alternative configurations for the accused equipment, and work with invalidity and non-infringement experts; support supplier indemnification negotiations and overall indemnity recovery. Will work with engineers to identify patentable IPR, support monetization and infringement analysis, and perform a limited number of patent prosecutions (initial interviews, drafting, filing, and prosecution). Will have responsibility for a broad array of analytical and prosecution work associated with patents at all stages of their lifecycle. Reports directly to the Vice President, IP & Antitrust, and will support both the patent litigation team and the IP prosecution team. Will be initial analysis of IPR asserted against the company with a focus on assessing the merits of the claims, as well as identifying IPR that may be patentable and analyzing the company’s patent portfolio.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Requirements include an engineering degree and a law degree, as well as membership in the patent Bar, and 5-7 years of relevant experience, including experience reviewing and analyzing patents for relevant attributes that go to the relative strength or weakness of the IPR. In addition, outstanding business judgment, strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, strong customer-oriented interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate well with others, and a proactive approach to solving problems are required.
