Legal Counsel The candidate will face a wide variety of substantive legal and business challenges during his or her daily activities at Meta, including: drafting and negotiating both routine and critical commercial contracts (such as non-disclosure, license, supplier, manufacturer and partnership agreements); working with Product and Engineering teams to understand new technologies and ensure their successful development, protection and entry into the market; crafting and promulgating internal policies relating to software development, content development and usage, human resources matters and protection of confidential information; managing litigation matters and interfacing with outside counsel; providing a sounding board for business leaders; and participating in fund-raising activities. will assist the General Counsel in building Meta's Legal Department as the Company continues to grow and receive additional funding from a variety of sources.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have 4+ years of relevant experience (either in-house or in a law firm). Should have excellent written and oral communication skills. Submission of a writing sample will support a candidate's application for this position. Should have exposure to software and hardware development processes (from research, to development, to productization), and to associated legal issues. Should have strong knowledge of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark and copyright (specifically, related to software development). Experience with patent prosecution and the issues related to practice before the USPTO is a plus. Should have experience negotiating high value license agreements and vendor contracts (experience working with CMs and ODMs is a bonus). Should have litigation experience and training. Should have general knowledge of labor and workplace law. Should have ability to exercise independent judgment, juggle multiple important projects, set priorities and work productively in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Should be team player, values and embraces diversity. Should have a passion for tackling difficult legal and business problems; tolerance and patience for implementing structure; desire to take on the usual suspects and change the world. Must have JD degree, excellent academic credentials, and admission to at least one state bar (preferably, California).
