Director, Legal - Commercial Field Operations Responsibilities : The candidate will negotiate, prepare and review complex commercial and intellectual property agreements with customers, collaborators and others. Manage other attorneys and paralegals both internally and externally. Provide strategic support and partnership to various departments, including regional customer account teams, product and service engineering, and regional management and operations. Provide transactional support and partnership to operations and corporate teams as needed. Develop and deliver training, communications, processes and procedures for providing effective and efficient legal support. Provide timely and effective legal advice on a wide variety of corporate and commercial legal issues, including commercial law, intellectual property, data security, data privacy, antitrust law, and product safety. Provide timely general legal support to domestic offices and to international offices in Asia. Oversee occasional litigation and provide litigation support. Domestic and international travel required.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements : The candidate should have a J.D. or equivalent from a top law school. California bar membership. 10+ years of experience, including significant experience managing a team. Willing and able to travel internationally several times per year. Familiarity with Asian commercial law and practices, particularly Korean and Japanese. Strong software licensing, antitrust, and/or cyber security knowledge. Professional level Korean, Mandarin, and/or Japanese language strongly preferred. Openness to possible relocation based on business need preferred. Background or experience in the semiconductor equipment and/or semiconductor industry is a plus. Technical or engineering background is a plus. Candidates of diverse backgrounds encouraged. Have excellent English oral and written communication skills. Able to discuss and explain complex technical and legal matters with legal and non-legal business partners and create high quality documents; similar skills in Korean, Mandarin and/or Japanese language strongly preferred. Be able to work successfully across time zones and cultures to support significant international operations and manage remote resources. Partner successfully with other business groups to achieve corporate objectives. Demonstrate strong leadership skills. Successfully balance leadership, managerial and independent contributor work. Successfully work and manage in a highly matrixed environment. Be adept at balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Work independently with limited supervision.
