Intellectual Property Manager The candidate will manage project related patent, trademark and IP agreements. Analyze and develop a successful patent strategy and processes. Develop and maintain patent portfolio. Work closely with development and manufacturing professionals to identify patentable inventions, participating in internal invention disclosure assessments, and providing guidance regarding the patentability of inventions under review. Manage outside US counsels’ patent preparation and prosecution efforts including reviewing applications and prosecution materials prepared by outside US counsel (if any) and providing technical and legal commentary to ensure overall application quality. Monitor competitor activity in NAFTA, including developing patentability, validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate opinions. Initiate and control measures to invalidate third party patent rights in NAFTA. Educate internal teams in USA with regard to group IP policies and the importance of IP. Manage the IP budget and sets priorities for investment in intellectual property. Lead the IP part of due diligences of M&A activities in USA. JD degree from an ABA accredited law school and 5-7 years of experience in IP law required. Experience: drafting and prosecuting patents and managing a patent portfolio; in providing freedom to operate opinions; in drafting and negotiating IP agreements, in particular confidentiality agreements required.
