Executive Claims Examiner Duties: Will be the acknowledged technical expert and be responsible for the daily handling, resolution and coverage analysis of claims for the company's global insurance unit. Will have significant responsibility for decision making and work autonomously within authority. Handle primary, umbrella and excess liability claims from beginning to end in the following fields: Excess liability, products liability, construction defect, trucking and auto, healthcare/medical malpractice. Analyze coverage and communicate coverage positions in reservation of rights letters, evaluate information on liability and damages to determine the extent of the insured's exposure and prepare recommendations to management on resolution strategy and reserves, Negotiate and settle claims. Direct and monitor assignments to experts and outside counsel. Prepare reports to management, reinsurers and other stakeholders. Adhere to fair claims practices regulations and internal claims quality performance objectives. Assist in training and mentoring of claims examiners. Serve as technical resource to subordinates and others in the company's organization. Participate in special projects or assist other team members as requested. Travel to mediations, trials, and conferences as required.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree. A JD, advanced degree, or focused technical degree a plus. Must have or be eligible to receive claims adjuster license. Successful achievement of industry designations (INS, IEA, AIC, ARM, SCLA, CPCU) or I-Lead or other Management Training. 10++ years of claims handling experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong knowledge of the U.S. tort and insurance coverage law. Strong knowledge of casualty and general liability policies, including occurrence-reported, occurrence and claims-made policy forms. Ability to manage the litigation of high-exposure cases and negotiate their resolution with minimal assistance. Ability to perform in-depth coverage analyses for a variety of manuscript and follow-form policies written on a claims-made, occurrence or occurrence-reported basis Power Point, Word).
