ProfileManaging Attorney The candidate will be responsible for directing the activities of the legal office. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Balance managerial functions with the handling of a caseload. Liaise between Claims Department and Staff Counsel Office. Enforce department procedures and standards. Direct the activities and provides managerial support for Senior Trial Attorney, Trial Attorney, Senior Legal Assistants, and Paralegals. Analyze legal office procedures and policies for efficiency and effectiveness and propose improvements when warranted, ensuring effective implementation of those changes. Communicate and support corporate policies and strategies to staff counsel employees and address any concerns regarding these policies or strategies. Supervise and oversee the preparation of office budget, special budget reports or cost accounting information. Chair periodic staff meetings. Respond to Claims Department requests promptly; report on all cases on a timely basis. Perform Performance Reviews of office staff at interim and year-end. Improve staff performance when necessary. Institute and enforce performance plan if necessary. Juris Doctorate degree with 10+ years of legal experience required. Admission to the State Bar is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Explorer or similar required. Typing skill required. Legal case management software experience preferred. Excellent customer service, writing and oral communication skills required.
