Managing Attorney Duties: Responsible for managing a staff of 13 attorneys in the Chicago Staff Legal office in the areas of General Liability and Workers’ Compensation. Providing direction and feedback to staff and monitoring their progress towards set goals and objectives. Exhibiting team selection and development skills. Recruiting and retaining highly skilled and customer service oriented professionals. Implementing case management skills including accurate evaluation of the litigation file including discovery, deposition skills, effective selection and use of experts, thorough witness/client preparation, motion practice, trial readiness, compliance with files handling guidelines, and file expense. Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree and 10+ years of experience in the litigation area. AND. Member of the Bar in good standing in jurisdiction(s) in which practice is located. Experience working with Lexis or Westlaw. Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance defense litigation legal environment. Knowledge of law and procedure. Preferred: 5+ years managing a team of people (optional). Prior experience and an ability to lead in a team-based environment. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong negotiation skills. Demonstrated case analysis ability and a track record or proven trial/settlement skills. Good collaboration skills. Ability to multi-task and adapt to a changing environment. Effective problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to mentor others on trial advocacy.
