Counsel-Coverage Duties: Provide research, analysis and legal advice and opinions with respect to insurance policy analysis and interpretation. Interpret and apply insurance contract provisions based on applicable case law, statutes and regulations. Provide written coverage opinions and coverage-related advice and support Drafting of coverage position letters Collaborate with internal partners in drafting insurance contract terms and provisions Participate in training and reporting emerging coverage trends and developments Assist with special projects as necessary Manage legal projects by defining scope, setting milestones, delegating tasks, tracking progress and reporting project results to ensure successful and efficient implementation. Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Doctoral Degree. JD Degree. 10+ years proven experience handling P&C and Specialty lines insurance coverage litigation and policy interpretation at a top tier law firm and in-house at a Fortune 500 insurance company. Admission to the Bar. Preferred: Knowledge: Laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process. Business acumen. Policies, practices, trends, and information affecting his/her business and organization. Litigation methodologies and best practices. Skills: Effectively present thoughts to key stakeholders to influence adoption of innovative recommendations. Negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups to settle differences with minimum noise. Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and implement solutions. Anticipate legal obstacles and challenges and strategize plans to address. Abilities. Communicate information in a clear, well-organized, and professional manner. Evaluate causal relationships. Professional, polished, poised and positive demeanor. Manage multiple complex projects and responsibilities concurrently and effectively. Motivational, inspirational and enthusiastic approach to team leading and management.
