Senior Insurance Manager Duties: Identify, analyze and implement value-added services and cost-saving opportunities in the areas of risk management and alternative risk financing. Develop specifications, oversee collection and compilation of exposure data, coordinate marketing, and participate in negotiating policy language and policy premiums for property, financial and other insurance lines. Coordinate and monitor loss prevention programs and services for all plant locations. Review various business contracts to determine if the terms of the agreements and insurance requirements are reasonable and consistent with BASF’s insurance programs and risk mitigation philosophy as well as assessing potential risk exposures. Provide advice and expertise to the business units regarding the insurance coverage available and coordinate and advocate for the business units in claim negotiations. Assess the company’s risk profile and risk appetite and makes recommendations for improvements. Manage the relationships and coordinate the activities of third parties including brokers, insurance companies, captive manager, claims representatives and other service providers. Maintain awareness of the insurance markets for significant changes/trends as well as developing issues.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required with Risk Management, Finance, Business preferred. MBA, CPCU, CRM, ARM or JD Degree a plus. 7+ years of progressive experience in risk management; experience with insurance placement, claims handling and/or loss control experience required. Experience working in a globally matrixed organization preferred. Must be able to review and assess the risks under various types of contracts, clearly explain the risks to the business units and assist in the negotiation of terms. Knowledge of property insurance and safety and loss prevention practices and programs is required; experience in the design and implementation of property insurance programs and processes required. Knowledge of Finance is required; plant operations experience is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to interact with people at all levels of the organization; strong entrepreneurial drive.
