Practice Technology Consultant Duties: Responsible for working with the firm’s practice groups to understand the practice groups’ and subgroups’ business processes and identify technologies to support the practice. Will operate primarily in a consulting relationship with members of the practice groups and serve as a liaison between the practice groups and the Business Technology Solutions (BTS) group. Will perform business analyses to document the practice groups’ technology requirements, analyze and document current business processes, communicate the value of existing technology solutions provided by the firm, and assist in identifying improved technology solutions to better serve clients. Will work closely with the BTS Project Management Office to analyze, document and communicate the user requirements for use in enabling BTS technology solutions. Meet with lawyers to elicit and analyze the technology needs of the practice group. Leverage a common methodology to document practice group needs and work closely with the Project Managers and development and support staff to design solutions. Manage ongoing relationships with practice groups and other group representatives regarding technology needs and advances both inside and outside the Firm. Maintain relationships with practice groups and other stakeholders to communicate specific project issues and progress. Educate designated coordinators within practice and administrative groups regarding BTS processes and tools that assist in ensuring the leverage of technology assets. Work with BTS subject matter experts for specific technologies, ensuring that feedback from practice and administrative groups is gathered and leveraged in the ongoing product enhancement process. Manage ongoing relationship with BTS subject matter experts and other customer facing roles to gather feedback on user experience and incorporate into product or project pipeline. Where appropriate, assist in the management of outside vendors which support our initiatives, including outside consultants, product support personnel, trainers, etc. Work with members of other technology groups within BTS to resolve technical problems that may arise. Handle multiple projects and priorities under stressful circumstances. Facilitate meetings of small groups for the purpose of understanding user technology requirements and educating group members. Stay abreast of technology trends in other professional services firms to better understand capabilities that may not currently exist in the King & Spalding environment, but that may add value to the business.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Undergraduate degree required; JD Degree or MBA preferred, with 3-5 years of legal experience. Prior law firm or legal department experience is required. Previous experience working with practicing lawyers and their support staff with the ability to translate business needs into requirements and act as a liaison to project management and development staff. Strong relationship development and listening skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization. Strong written and verbal communications skills are necessary. Must have a strong client-service orientation, advanced analytical skills, and a strong ability to communicate persuasively. Possess a natural desire to learn and document business processes and emerging knowledge sharing technologies that better enable our professionals to serve our clients and manage our business. Ability to identify innovative opportunities and define and propose effective solutions. Must be flexible and able to work on multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Previous knowledge of project management methodologies and processes. Possess a strong work ethic and be proactive, forward thinking and imaginative. Ability to handle high stress situations and deal successfully with opposing views. Must be well organized, attentive to detail, and willing to take ownership of internal client requests.
