ProfileImmigrant Rights Attorney The candidate will be to provide legal counseling for immigrants facing possible detention and deportation, with direct representation in immigration law matters to mostly Spanish speaking immigrants in the lower Hudson Valley. Will be providing direct representation to immigrants in: Removal proceedings, ancillary family court proceedings (SUS), naturalization and adjustment of status, deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, special Immigrant Juvenile Status, U Visa petitions, asylum applications and hearings, violence Against Women Act (VAWA) self-petitions, federal Court appeals, administrative Appeals, other immigration and civil matters.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should be fluent in Spanish, both written and verbal. Should have at least 3 yeas of relevant work experience. Should be able to produce high quality written material, meet tight deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team. Should have strong analytical and writing skills. Should be experienced in interviewing and counseling clients in both English and Spanish. Should be willing and able to serve a geographically wide-spread area, including assisting clients in Rockland County. Should be admitted to practice in New York State with at least 3 years relevant work experience.
