ProfileTh candidate will supervision of attorneys, including pro bono volunteers, non-attorney advocates, and interns. Will directly representing individuals in removal proceedings before the Los Angeles Immigration Court. Will be preparing and submitting applications, legal briefs, and supporting documentation for immigration relief, including but not limited to: asylum, withholding of removal, relief under the Convention Against Torture, U visa, VAWA, and adjustment of status with applicable waivers, refugee waivers, and SIJS. Will be conducting Know-Your-Rights presentations to individuals in immigration court and conducting intakes with individuals scheduled for court that day. Will be preparing and submitting reports to program funders. Will grant planning and drafting, as well as relationship building with funders, and Presenting to and working with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community based organizations on changes in immigration law.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bilingual, Asian language strongly preferred. Should have JD degree with membership in good standing with California State Bar. Must have 7-10 years of removal defense experience and strong knowledge of immigration remedies. Must be dedicated to serving immigrant communities with a sincere commitment to working on behalf of low income immigrants. Should have detail oriented and strong writing skills. Should have supervisory experience. Should have excellent interpersonal skills, including good communication skills, listening skills and attitude. Should have ability to work both independently and under supervision. Should have ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. Should have valid driver’s license, access to an automobile, insurance, and willingness to drive to off-site locations.
