ProfileImmigrant Rights Attorney The candidate will be a critical member of the growing Immigration Practice Group and work on the new Project, a recently created initiative funded by the State. Work as a part of a multifaceted team of attorneys and paralegals who provide supportive advocacy and legal services in public benefits, family law and housing. The primary focus will be to provide legal counseling for immigrants facing possible detention and deportation with direct representation in immigration law matters to mostly Spanish speaking immigrants on Long Island. Liaise for the Legal Defense Project on Long Island. Providing direct representation to immigrants in: Removal proceedings; Naturalization and adjustment of status; U Visa petitions; Asylum applications; Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) self-petitions; Federal Court appeals; Administrative appeals; Other immigration and civil matters. Admission to practice law in the State with 5+ years of experience required. Fluency in Spanish, both written and verbal required. 5 - 7 years relevant work experience required. Strong analytical and writing skills required. Experience in interviewing and counseling clients in both English and Spanish required. Deadline: September 26, 2017.
