ProfileImmigration Attorney The candidate will interview and screen applicants for program eligibility. Collect and organize appropriate and relevant evidence in support of client applications. Review application packets completed by program paralegals. Prepare appropriate forms in a thorough manner. Research immigration law, statutory and case law as required. Monitor changes in immigration laws as they affect clients. Provide translation services of client documentation where required. Prepare clients for and provide representation at USCIS interviews as required. Supervise paralegal, administrative staff, law student interns and volunteers. Maintain accurate and orderly records and files. Maintain and protect client confidentiality. Participate in community outreach programs, conduct presentations to key groups and organizations. Interface with other immigration advocates, attend meetings as assigned and represent the Immigration Legal Services Department as directed. Create reports as required. Comply with all program, grant and department policies and procedures. Perform other related duties and tasks as necessary or as assigned. Fluency in English AND Spanish required. J.D. degree from an accredited law school required. Membership in good standing of bar of U.S. State required. Previous supervisory experience required. 2+ years of experience in immigration law with emphasis on family-based immigration required. Strong written and oral advocacy skills required. Good communication and interpersonal skills required. Previous experience working in a non-profit or pro bono setting or with a legal services organization required.
