Legal Director The candidate will represent the agency’s clients and supervises the legal work of the department. Lead the legal team in collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team at the agency and work well with court personnel, other agencies and community members. Provide civil legal representation to clients of the company including Spanish-speaking victims of domestic violence. Provide legal counsel and advice to clients with diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Supervise and mentor members of the legal department including staff attorneys, paralegals, law clerk and/ or other legal dept. staff. Coordinate legal services with other EC’s team members as well as external agencies. Recruit and supervise attorneys or law student interns who will provide pro-bono civil legal assistance to battered immigrant women. Develop and conduct continuing legal education Training for law students, pro-bono attorneys and judges. Provide analysis of legal and policy issues. Conduct and oversee research into a variety of legal issues. Write, edit, and finalize reports, opinions, correspondence, articles, and other documents. Advise the agency’s staff about legal issues concerning its clients. Participate in agency planning and organizational development as part of the leadership team. Serve as part of the company’s Leadership team. Support legal staff in being part of an interdisciplinary team. Work with other allies and civil legal services programs collaboratively. State of New Mexico Bar License or out of state license eligible for NM licensure required. 3+ years of family law practice experience for legal director position required. Spanish/ English bilingual ability required. Experience working with domestic violence, immigrant rights and /or social justice issues required.
