Director & Senior Legal Officer, Billing & Reimbursement Compliance Duties: Provide the strategic vision for billing and reimbursement compliance throughout the organization. Will: (a) serve as the in-house legal and regulatory expert on hospital, professional and clinical research billing compliance issues; (b) facilitate the Executive Billing Compliance Committee and the Clinical Research Billing Compliance Subcommittee; (c) conduct and oversee all billing compliance auditing, monitoring, outreach, and education; (d) develop or assist with the development of policies and procedures related to billing compliance matters; and (e) lead all compliance investigations and corrective action related to billing matters. Will supervise staff consisting of billing and reimbursement compliance managers, project managers, analysts, and compliance assistants.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and JD Degree. 7 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, health care organization or related entity. Experience with medical research billing compliance, Medicare/Medicaid regulations, billing and reimbursement, and general healthcare law. Strong organization and communication skills applicable to a highly diverse environment and clientele. Preferred: 8-10 years of legal experience in a law firm, health care organization, either at MD Anderson or another large academic health care facility. Familiarity with WHO International Classification of Diseases (ICD) 9 and 10 Guidelines for Coding and Reporting. Must currently be licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas, or currently be licensed in another state with acquisition of Texas license within 12 to 18 months after hire date.
