Supervising Attorney, Health Consumer Center Duties: Leads a team of 20 advocates that provide a wide-range of health focused advocacy in multiple forums including hotline consumer assistance, administrative hearings, litigation, state and county policy development, training and technical assistance and community education, and leads a network of community-based Medical Legal Community Partnerships. Member of the Leadership Team with responsibility for supervision, quality control and mentoring of lawyers and paralegals; overseeing case and outcome data collection/analysis and grant compliance; integrating health advocacy with the broader poverty law work in the areas of public benefits, immigration, housing, and economic security; and overseeing development of materials and trainings for government agencies and community providers.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: California Bar membership required. 8+ years of practice, with a knowledge of public interest law practice and previous supervision experience. A proven leader with excellent written and oral advocacy skills and a commitment to address the core issues of poverty through innovative projects. Proven ability to lead and manage a team of advocates and coordinate and execute complex projects. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, staff, community organizations, and public officials and excellent interpersonal/management skills. Knowledge of health or public benefits law and bilingual skills in Spanish or Chinese strongly preferred.
