ProfileLegal Counsel The candidate will oversee and address HIPAA privacy and security issues to ensure that the organization appropriately manages risk, including oversight and support for the HIPAA Privacy Officer and Security Officer. Will provide legal services to Health Plan Services, Payor Contracting and company's population health and clinical integration initiatives, including addressing HIPAA, Affordable Care Act, fraud and abuse, anti-trust and other related legal issues faced by those areas. Review and negotiate new payor contracts and amendments and provides legal support for other legal transactions involving payors, such as joint venture arrangements. Responsible for providing legal support to the Institutional Review Board, the company Research Center and company Information Services. Collaborate with leadership to ensure there is an appropriate and thorough review of any identified issues followed by an appropriate resolution, and keeps abreast of all regulatory issues and proposals that impact company for any of the foregoing subjects.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree and Law degree from an accredited law school. Should be licensed to practice law in Indiana. Must have 3-5 years of experience practicing law, preferably health law experience in the areas identified above. Experience with legal entity formation, ERISA laws, anti-trust laws, human subject research regulations and Institutional Review Boards beneficial. Broad knowledge of applicable federal and state privacy and information security laws is required. Should have knowledge of insurance and payor contracting regulations and issues. Must have ability to present complex information in a clear and understandable manner to small and large groups, including senior leadership, Boards and Board Committees.
