Assistant Counsel The candidate serves as legal counsel within the hospital and provide legal services, advice and assistance to various clinical and staff departments. Review policies and regulations pertaining to the department. Review policies and regulations pertaining to the department. Provide legal counsel to internal clients on labor and employment matters. Screen, review, negotiate and process policies, contracts and other obligations that the hospital may enter into. In conjunction with General Counsel, approve the legal aspects of settlements, finalization of contracts and negotiations. Reviews subpoenas, garnishments and other legal documents. Provide legal review of vendor documents, settlements and releases and stipulations. Coordinate legal services with external providers as necessary. Perform investigations to determine facts and legal issues that need to be addressed. Review policies and procedures related to human resources, compliance, patient financial services, contracts and other areas as needed. Review and coordinate work activities with Paralegals as needed. Must have Juris Doctor degree and admission to the New York State Bar. Should have 5+ years legal experience in a law firm or healthcare setting. Labor and employment experience is preferred. Experience leading and coordinating work with others, such as Paralegal position is must.
