Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC is seeking a full time Human Resource Generalist to support the firm’s human resource services.  This is a shared role and will be responsible for both HR functions and legal recruiting functions.


  • Benefit administration. This includes health insurance (enrollments, contract renewals, education, annual Form 5500 filings), COBRA continuation coverage, retirement plans (enrollments, education, annual Form 5500 filings, audits, Form 1099s), Section 125 cafeteria plans (enrollments, education, annual Form 5500 filings).
  • Administration of leaves of absence.  This includes short term disability, long term disability, family leave, FMLA leave and NJFLA leave.
  • Compliance Reporting.  This includes state and federal compliance reporting, audits by NJ DOL, ACA federal filings.
  • Payroll. This includes processing payroll through the ADP WorkForce Now.
  • Coordinate firm recruitment efforts, assist with new hire and terminations. This includes all employee classifications (full time, part time, hourly, temp-to-perm), new hire orientation, and, when required, to terminate in accordance with company policy and state and federal regulations. This includes preparing all necessary documents, initiating or terminating benefits, and payroll.   Recruitment efforts include communication with legal recruiters, database searches and resume compilation, scheduling interviews as directed, maintaining the LawCruit database and post interview correspondence.
  • Daily administrative HR management. Promptly returning phone calls, emails, and properly storing and organizing employee information and documentation in each employee file.  Assist with resolution of workplace disputes.  Answering various employee questions pertaining to all aspects of employee benefits and company policies. Proper accrual of vacation/sick days owed and taken and reconciling the same.


  • 5-10 years’ experience in human resources, preferably in a professional services firm
  • Knowledge of employment and benefit laws
  • Experience with ADP WorkForce Now and Micron LawCruit systems
  • Proficient with MS Word and Excel
  • Candidate must be proactive with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
