Senior Corporate Counsel - Consumer Lending Duties: Provide legal support to corporation with a primary focus on consumer lending regulations and laws related to consumer lending products and services. Ensure that legal services provided to business partners are aligned with their strategic goals, mission, and objectives while adhering to all applicable laws. Advise business partners on regulatory risks of possible business decisions, providing preventive counseling with respect to the legal risks associated with business practices. Provide counsel to business, analytics, technology and operations teams vis-a-vis applicable consumer credit, fair lending, consumer privacy and consumer protection laws. Lead legal aspects of consumer lending product due diligence, launch and maintenance support. Develop various applicable internal policies and procedures. Negotiate vendor agreements. Perform any other tasks as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and JD Degree from an accredited University in addition to having authorization to practice law within the US is required. 10+ years' experience in consumer financial services with 5+ years of experience with prime and sub-prime consumer credit cards preferred. Must be experienced with with CFBP examinations. Strong background in federal and state consumer protection laws such as Dodd Frank, TILA, FCRA, ECOA, GLBA. Experience in consumer finance, including, but not limited to state and federal regulatory compliance, licensing and approvals, operational issues, corporate and transactional matters, and audits and investigations. Expert with Canadian Laws and regulation a plus. Must have strong drafting and negotiations skills with the ability to manage complex issues and deal structure; Must be able to multi-task effectively in an extremely fast-paced team environment with short turnaround times; Highly developed problem solving, analytical and strategic skills; Superior organizational and project management skills are required; must be able to manage multiple projects and operate within hard timelines; and Ability to work across departments and businesses.
