ProfileStaff Attorney The candidate will draft, review and negotiate customer-facing, internal and third party vendor contracts and agreements. Will manage and oversee litigation, including drafting pleadings, assisting with discovery, developing trial strategy, coordinating with insurance carriers and external counsel, and resolving matters in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner. Provide assistance to front line employees in addressing customer- and account-specific questions and concerns. Assist in developing, maintaining, reviewing and updating internal form documents for use in company operations. Advise unit mangers, lines of business, and company officers and employees on policies and procedures and proactively recommend changes to address industry shifts or changes in laws and regulations, ensuring that such advice is aligned with and supported by company values and the strategic direction of the corporate legal function. Assist management in analyzing corporate, legal and regulatory matters, including identifying risks and proposing alternative structures to mitigate risks involved in potential transactions and daily operations. Act as internal legal contact on matters that are referred to outside counsel and liaise between internal stakeholders and outside counsel; manage and coordinate with outside counsel to develop transactional and litigation strategies and defenses, provide guidance and supervision, and ensure the best value for the company. Identify training needs and act proactively to educate and train employees on legal matters and best practices. Support other areas of the company as needed, including with regard to federal and state banking laws and regulations, consumer protection laws, general contract law, intellectual property issues, corporate matters, compliance risk management, internal policies and procedures, data privacy and information governance, human resources, marketing, and retail operations. Compile reports and documentation as needed and on a continuing basis. Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives. Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization, including negotiating resources. Exercise competency, courtesy, and concern for the development of the company at all times. Perform other related duties as requested. Should have 3-5 years of legal experience, with prior in-house and/or financial institutions experience preferred. JD degree from an accredited institution is needed. Active and good standing member of the South Carolina, North Carolina or Georgia Bar is required. Strong experience in contractual and transactional matters; experience with consumer protection laws and regulations and retail banking matters are beneficial.
