Director – Senior Counsel Responsibilities: Reports directly to the Managing Director and Head of Legal Financial Security (US), will be based in New York, and contributes to the execution of the office’s responsibilities. Provide legal guidance and support to Compliance and Legal colleagues, and to the bank’s US and global businesses, relating to economic sanctions, anti-money laundering, and anti-corruption matters. Act as a point of contact in Legal responsible for review or drafting of regulatory communications on financial-security topics. Participate in and advise various internal committees and working groups on economic sanctions, anti-money laundering, and anti-corruption matters. Participate in relevant external working groups and trade associations to ensure remains up-to-date on legal issues involving US economic sanctions, anti-money laundering, and anti-corruption matters. Will work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, with relatively little precedent or guidance, and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Will work across the organization as required and maintain high standards of professionalism in all dealings with team members and with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD Degree or equivalent / US bar membership. 8 + years of relevant experience. Strong knowledge of US economic sanctions laws and regulations and their operational impact. Strong understanding of US regulatory agencies dealing with economic sanctions, anti-money laundering, and anti-corruption matters. Experience with anti-money laundering and anti-corruption laws and regulations. Strong analytical and investigative skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Well-organized and experienced at managing time, clients, and projects. Knowledge of financial services industry and industry practices. Preferred: French language skills a plus.
