ProfileSupervising Attorney (Family Visa Program) Duties: A member of the management team and plays a critical role in shaping the vision of the programs and in providing strategic leadership in program priority to advance and protect immigrant rights. Leads a legal team of attorneys and paralegals within the Family Visa Program. Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day program operations, supervising attorneys and paralegals/caseworkers in the provision of legal services, planning and delivering training, and providing legal representation to immigrants who come to the weekly “charla” of Center. Coordinates and reviews collection of data and statistical information for internal and grant reports, represents Center in the legal community and acts as a liaison between stakeholders to advocate for immigrant rights.
Qualification and Experience
REQUIREMENTS: Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas, or eligible to waive in within one year on staff. 5+ years of practice experience as a licensed attorney, 3 of those years should be in immigration law. Experience in immigration law practice is required. Fluency in Spanish (writing, speaking and reading). Demonstrated experience in client advocacy and litigation. Excellent legal research and writing skills. Experience supervising legal staff. Demonstrated community outreach and public speaking skills, including the ability to work with the media. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to manage a large caseload, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
