ProfileStaff Attorney The candidate will provide direct services to clients in the specialty areas of immigration law and family law. Will co-counsel and/or assist other legal services staff and private attorneys in cases in area(s) of specialization. Will maintain a thorough knowledge of immigration law. Keep abreast of developments in the law. Will maintain contacts with the most likely referral sources for immigration cases in the State of Delaware. Will supervise paralegals statewide. Will conduct community education programs. Will participate in appropriate training. Will produce and distribute educational materials. Will assist with the preparation and presentation of data and advocacy reports to funding sources. Will assist with other CLASI programs and events as assigned. Will perform any other reasonable duties as directed
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to civil rights and/or public interest work. Should have excellent verbal, written communication, analytical, and counseling skills are required. Must be able to exhibit patience, tact and respect when dealing with the general public and CLASI staff. Must be able to conduct small and large group presentations; must have excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills. Must be comfortable with a heavy caseload of immigration cases. Must have computer literacy. Must be a team player and be comfortable with remote supervision. Must have own transportation and be willing to travel within the entire State of Delaware for community presentations and meetings, and in Philadelphia for immigration hearings (travel expenses reimbursed). Should have delaware Bar admission.
