Senior Counsel - Environmental & Regulatory Affairs The candidate will provide legal direction and guidance to various organizations within the company, including: production sites nationwide, Product Safety and Regulatory Affairs (PSRA), Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality (HSEQ), and Advocacy. Provide legal counsel, crisis management and risk mitigation advice to the company’s production sites nationwide and assigned departments, including PSRA, HSEQ and Advocacy. Assist in planning and developing strategic programs and training modules to ensure that legal services are provided in an effective, timely and comprehensive manner. Assist U.S. sites in responding to requests, inspections, audits, etc., directed by federal and state governmental workplace safety agencies or organizations. Serve as a liaison between PSRA and Advocacy teams across all business units. Maintain General Counsel’s awareness of high priority activities. Assist in the selection of and manage outside counsel utilized for various legal issues. Interpret court decisions, perform legal research, and have knowledge of statutes and governmental regulations to advise management on current and pending legal developments. Review applicable operating policies and practices and train assigned business groups and service functions to ensure compliance with relevant internal and external requirements. Assist in performing audits to determine conformance. When required, take action to develop or modify procedures. Manage and prioritize assigned legal projects by utilizing detailed planning, sound business analysis, information systems support and expert training. Represent the company at industry seminars, trade associations, task forces and action groups required to enhance the company's legal interests and business goals. Interface with Law, Intellectual Property & Compliance colleagues at global affiliates as needed. Bachelors’ Degree and J.D. from an accredited law school and admission and good standing status in a state bar required. 7+ years of legal experience, including experience with and/or substantive knowledge of the following environmental laws and corresponding state statutes: Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA); Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA); Clean Air Act (CAA); Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA); Occupational Safety and Health Administration Act (OSH Act) required. Legal experience in a global manufacturing environment and experience with supporting product advocacy efforts required. Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required.
