Business Development Manager Duties: Represent business needs through strong relationships and deal negotiation with the global video game development community and other external partners. Identify game development studios, IP owners, contractors and tech companies that support Activision Publishing’s portfolio and internal studio production needs. Provide consistent world-class business development services to the various Activision business units and internal studios. Support and report to, Senior Director, Studios & External Business Development. Responsible for driving the sourcing, evaluation and contract negotiation process for products, including: Finding & evaluating new concepts, content providers, IP holders and other potential partnerships in the interactive space. Coordinating and organizing pitch meetings, at HQ or at various conferences. Coordinate external pipeline evaluation meetings for new game ideas and business opportunities. This involves distributing product documentation, setting up play tests, collecting feedback and working with external partners during process. Assist with developer diligence trips and follow up materials. Maintaining developer database. Support with negotiating high value deals with complex term structures; Negotiate financially responsible and fair deals with external vendors, clients, developers, and licensors. Expectation will be for this position to take ownership over technology license deals. Work with PMG and other departments to drive CRF process and contract execution. Expected to work with multiple Activision Studios teams to deliver success: production teams to drive the evaluation & diligence process, the finance and marketing teams to help build project P&Ls, and the legal team to negotiate & sign agreements. Responsible for owning cross departmental relationships, with BU’s, Studios & PMG to manage long term successful partnerships.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: An MBA or JD Degree is preferred. Knowledge with a global business perspective. A strong passion for gaming and the ability to articulate why certain games are successful and why some are not. Knowledge to help inform internal stakeholders about what kind of gaming content will help create the greatest impact for the Activision Publishing portfolio strategy and pipeline. Will be expected to have a strong background in negotiations and be able to understand the financial and production components of development deals. Experience building & executing deals both for traditional boxed products as well as games as a service, and be able to understand & articulate what makes the different structures a success. Ability to engage with & build successful relationships with everyone from senior executives to internal studios to single-person development teams. Demonstrated strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a superior drive for results.
