Counsel - Employment and Labor The candidate reports to the Group Counsel-Global Employment and Litigation and will have responsibility for providing legal services to the corporation in the area of employment and labor law as well as some general litigation. Responsibilities include providing counsel to Human Resources and other parts of the business on general employment matters. The position requires experience assessing, developing, and executing employment policies, providing legal counsel and training to business and HR leaders on employment matters, and supporting business initiatives and desired culture through positive employment practices. Will closely interact with internal clients by providing timely legal advice on general employment and litigation matters and resolving business relationship issues. The Counsel – Employment and Labor will also perform any and all other duties as assigned. The position may involve some travel. Should have law degree from an accredited law school. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Kansas or the ability to be admitted (under rule 712) within a year of starting work. Must have 3 years of applicable experience in employment law; experience supporting a national, multi-site business organization preferred. Experience at a reputable law firm, government, or a corporate law department is required. Experience working in a team setting (attorneys, paralegals and support staff) is required, and experience and comfort advising and working with business clients directly. Should have ability to interact effectively within all levels of the organization including senior leadership. Must have exceptional organization skills which facilitate the effective management of several tasks at once, as well as superior analytical ability.
